User Interface: A Good One

I found a new feature on my car. The intermittent wiper has a great little twist. The settings range (of course) from least frequent to most frequent wiping.

Here’s the cool part. The most frequent is no delay at all. It’s the exact same as having the wipers on low constant wiping. Until I used this I hadn’t realized how ridiculous it is to continually switch between the shortest delay and no delay at all, which usually entails having to change wiping modes entirely. This is brilliant, just brilliant.

  1. That’s a very good question, one that occurred to me also. I don’t see why you couldn’t have one dial that does it all. Why don’t you get your Hungarians on it, see what they come up with?

  2. Does it even make sense to have different modes at all? Why not have a single control that allows you to go from 0 to full speed? BTW, when I bought a new car recently, I got a stripped down model that didn’t have intermittent wipers. Didn’t know it until about a week later, and I now really miss them.
