Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving?

No, it isn’t. It just isn’t. Buzzed driving is bad, but it’s not as bad as drunk driving. Duh.

I saw billboards for this all over our drive to Kentucky and back. This is one more reason far leftists are reviled. Not all bad things are the same. Double duh.

Other commentary here and here.

  1. I’ve never understood how/why there are laws that specify specific BAC levels…and there are restaurants/bars to which you can drive and then consume alcohol…but yet breathalyzers aren’t available in bars. So how is the average person supposed to know when he or she hits 0.08? I guess the simple answer is don’t drink AT ALL if you’re going to be driving, but then the law should be zero tolerance, y’know?

  2. Well, I’m not sure exactly what the board is trying to say, but I think its basically saying that what you and I might call ‘buzzed’ is still probably drunk. Just because you aren’t slurring, wobbling, or anything like that doesn’t mean you aren’t too drunk to drive.
Its shockingly easy to get to illegal BAC levels.

Now, you might be saying that the board is equating being at just slightly illegal levels vs. being really hammered.
And Yes, I suppose being trashed behind the wheel is worse than just being slightly over the limit. But where do you draw the line? If I get in a car impaired and hit someone, should it matter how impaired I was? When do you move from buzzed to drunk?

    I’m just sayin…
